Limitations of Access

Access is nothing like Excel.

Excel is just a spreadsheet Access is whatever you make it, but it is not a
good spreadsheet. One table in Access may look like an Excel Worksheet, it
isn't.

Use Excel for simple data that requires a lot of calculations. Apart from
not being a spreadsheet Access is better in every way to Excel for storing
and manipulating data. If you want to use Access when you should be using
Excel your life will be miserable. If you want to use Excel when you should
be using Access your life will be over.

What are the major limitations of Kangeroos compared to Aardvarks?

i disagree.

Excel is never better at anything than Access.

Use Excel for simple data that requires lots of calculations?

I just dont understand what youre talking about... Access-- a DATAbase
is always going to be better with working with DATA than Excel.

Excel is a disease.

That's certainly your view, however Excel does have its uses for financial
purposes and allows quick and dirty implementations

Ask an accountant if he'd rather use a database product than a spreasheet.

I hardly ever use Excel but it has its place.

Access and Excel are both good tools if you use them for the right things.
Excel isn't designed to deal with databases, Access isn't designed to deal
with spreadsheets. trying to sort an manupulate the wrong type of data in
either programme will only end up in you wasting alot of valuable time and
effort and you will end up frustrated that you cant get the info you need

the basic rules of both i would say are

Use Excel for numbers
Use Access for words and dates

it's almost as simple as that. if you follow that rule you cant go far wrong
