Link excel cells to MS Project Resource Usage

alessandro

I have this problem. I want to link an excel file and a project file. I'd
like to copy the value of one cell in the excel file to the 'actual work'
cell of a task in the resource usage sheet in Ms project. I'd like to copy
also the link between the cells so that updating the value in the excel file
i can see it updated also in the resource usage sheet. Is this possible?
thank you
Alessandro

Hi Alessandro,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

The essential trick to allow selection of Linking is detailed in FAQ# 10 -
Exporting to Excel. However, I will add a warning. These simple linkages
are somewhat fragile and can be lost. Make sure you keep both files in the
same folder on your disk and never move them.

Unfortunately it doesn't work, I need to copy not align data from excel to
the resource usage sheet. I've different excel sheet (but in the same file)
with data to be linked in the 'actual work' cells of about 1400 tasks.so I
can't just copy them as they are...

Hi Alessandro,

I thought you would enter the new data in the Excel sheet and copy/paste
link into Project. Then, as the data in Excel changes, it will
automatically be reflected in Project. If this is not what you want, then I
suggest you seek help for a vba solution by posting on the
microsoft.public.project.developer newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24.
