LOST IT!!

outlook got corrupted so I reinstalled figuring I was safe because I had a
backup on my phone - I would sync and it would all be good. WRONG. My
calendar synced but my email and contacts are gone! Is there anything I can
do?

If by "reinstalling" you mean that you ONLY re-installed Outlook, then your
pst file is still on your HDD.
open outlook and do File-open-outlook data file.
It /should/ open the default location automatically, but if it doesn't, then
navigate to this location:
C:\Documents and Settings\{Your user name}\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

To start with, the mail account type is important too.

As you replied that you had found your email in the pst-file, you should
look in the same pst-file for your contacts; all Outlook data is kept in a
single pst-file.

Make sure you didn't import the pst-file but simply connected to it by
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

Contacts are in the same pst file as your mail. When you click on "contacts"
what do you see? (What version of Outlook?)
