Master Projects and Resource Pools

I have many projects that share resources with a resource pool (containing
only resources). I would like to use a Master Project containing all Projects
to give an overall view of my projects.

Would it be better to setup a Master Project file seperately from the
resource pool? Would this Master Project need to link to the resource pool
or, since the sub-projects are already linked, is this unnecessary?

Alternatively, would it be better to use the resource pool as the Master
Project (I can imagine a high potential for conflicts and corruptions doing
it this way)?

Thanks

Hi,

There may be different opinions about this, but in order to avoid double
information I do not create a specific master, instead I always open the
pool with the third option. It creates the master (enough for me to see what
a master can provide) and I do not even have to save it once the work is
done - I do save the detail projects and the pool.

If you do set up a master, for instance because you want specific
formatting, no, it is not NECESSARY to link the master to the pool - as long
as it only contains the projects, not work in its own right. But as I said,
you create a redundancy f.i. when you unlink a project from the pool it will
still appear in the master...
