Max size for backend DB?

Bonnie

Hi there, using A02 on XP. How large can the backend DataBase get before
size can become an issue or problem? I use multiple frontend DB's and one
backend DB. It is 212,542 KB now. I compile it each morning before anyone
uses it. Should I break it up into smaller backends? Any advice, input or
info location is welcome and appreciated. Thanks bunches!!!

Bonnie,

The specifications state that the maximum file size for Access 2000 and
above is 2GB, so 212MB is no problem.

Don't get carried away with compacting, as it's not really necessary unless
you're doing a lot of record deletions.

Why do you ask? Is your current design experiencing performance problems?
Are you anticipating doubling in size in the next year? Are there issues
with data corruption?

Hi Graham. Thanks for the info. Not alot of record deletions but seem to
run smoother. (I also delete all of the .ldb files and that seems to play a
part in their smooth operation.) Appreciate you being available for teaching
me. Thx.

Good morning Jeff,

Just curious. No problems other than the occasional "Cannot update. Record
currently locked." Graham answered my question and all is well.
