Need to capture REAL % complete of construction outputs

I need to track REAL % complete of tasks as of a status date, and need MS
Project to recalculate remaining days based on this % complete. For example,
if I have 10 days to build a wall, but after 2 days (status date) I am 50%
finished building the wall, I want to capture:
Actual Start Date
% Complete = 50%
Remaining Days = 2 days (since it took 2 days to finish the first 50%, not 5
days)

Someone PLEASE help! I don't want % complete and Remaining days to be based
on a fixed duration.

Thank you Trevor! I was just in a meeting today where people seemed to think
MSP would make estimates of remaining duration based on % physical work
completed as of the status date. It's too bad for my client, but good for me
to have a yes/no answer about MSP functionality.

What do you think about showing a Physical % Complete progress bar in the
Gantt Chart, along with the Actual & Remaining Duration bar? Maybe that
would give the client a bit more piece of mind...
