New Update Deleting ost file?

Apparently, one of the new updates is either deleting the .ost file
within a user's profile, or it is removing "Default Profile" from the
registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER-->SOFTWARE-->MICROSOFT-->WINDOWS NT--
WINDOWS MESSAGING SUBSYSTEMS-->PROFILES. We have a group policy that
automatically creates an Outlook profile if the user signs on to a
machine for the first time. This morning, it was like everyone was
signing on for the first time. All of the .ost files are being
recreated and it's totally clogging up our network. I think most of
them are through updating now, but I'd still like to know which update
caused the problem and exactly what it did. Has anyone else
experienced this?

Is it an SBS 2003 server by any chance? Is it actually deleting the ost or
is a new default profile being created?

It's not SBS -- we're running Windows 2003 SP2 R2 and Outlook 2003. I
found out that it is not deleting the .ost file -- I think it just
wiped out the registry info with the default profile, which caused the
group policy to think that it was a new user, thus creating a new .ost
file. I still would like to find out for sure.

Of course, now I'm getting the "My signature is gone" phone calls.
