Old publisher disk scratched....

B

Bob Greene

Just got new machine - XP Pro - and was reinstalling software....

Got to Publisher 2000 - original Microsoft disk - stalls on msdraw83.exe -
cannot read file. Disk appears to have a rather severe scratch.

What are my options?

Thanks in advance.

Try to copy the disk and install from the copy.

Take the disk to a used DVD/CD/Video Game
store and ask if they will polish out the scratch
for you. (May work...may not)

If all else fails...e-Bay is usually a good source
for outdated software.

Yes, I've done it...but only as last ditch.

And if it doesn't work...at least your CD won't get cavities :)

One that I saw recommended in Windows XP: The Official Magazine was Brasso.
They ran a tutorial on the topic, and they recommended Brasso over
toothpaste. I haven't tried either, though, so I can't really comment

Brasso should work too...man that is an OLDE product!

There's also a product for polishing fiberglass (like boats and patio furniture) that I have tried...can't remember the name of it though.
