older versions help?

InfoTech

I don't know if there is any help availible anymore for older versions of
Groove.. however...

I have a user that is unable to upgrade from 2.5n to 3.1a, any attempt to do
so cuases the system process to ping the cpu out and it stays that way until
reboot. As the machine shuts down, a window pops up saying this

"GrooveVirtualOffice: DLL init failed"

I've tried the install as diffrent users on the same machine, no luck,
including the admin account.

2.5n installed just fine, but 3.1 will NOT install either as an upgrade or
as a stand alone. As this user needs to get to 3.1 for a workspace, any help
(if there is any) for this would in fact be great.

Dear Friend,

According to your description, I think this issue must be caused if the
Groove was not be installed or uninstalled successfully.

Based on our current situation, I think we can refer to these steps and then
test the results.

1: Please login the system by the administrator account.
2: Try to use Grooveclean -all to remove all groove data files from the
system.
Use Grooveclean –all tool to clear communications queues and remove all
Groove data: (Note: This method will remove the data on your computer, so we
should check if any workspaces we need backup first.)
=================
A: Please shutdown the Groove software first.
B: Click Start, click Run, type the following command, and then click OK:
C:\Program Files\Groove Networks\Groove\Bin\GrooveClean.exe -all

The command line method:
From the Files menu, click Exit Groove.
Open the MS DOS command line window.
Type cd \progra~1\groove~1\groove\bin
Type GrooveClean –all and press Enter.

For the detail information about Grooveclean tool, we can refer to this link
page:
http://www.groove.net/support/kb/detail.cfm/docnum/TCN-00312

After these steps, then please let us run an Over install of Groove with the
latest version and then test the results.
Please download and run the installation from the following location:
http://components.groove.net/Groove/DailyBuilds/latest/OCI/Setup.htm

Over installing will not remove any licenses or remove any account or space
data for your Groove account. There is also no need to uninstall first.
Restart the computer once the installation is complete. Groove will have been
added back to the startup and will load. Log in to the account.

(The key to this process is when the install completes it will reregister
all the DLL Groove uses. By performing the over install you have all the
latest fixes and all the DLL will get registered. It is possible that another
software install or update affected one of the Groove files causing this
error.)

After these steps, then please let us recrate the Groove account profile
with your Groove account and then test the results.
