OneNote Mobile Syncing

(not sure if this is more appropriate for here or
microsoft.public.pocketpc...)

I'm running OneNote 2k7 on my laptop and ActiveSync 4.5. Recently
purchased a Windows Mobile 6 PPC phone (love it!) I don't have
Outlook installed, so I don't get the "full featured" sync. Just
mobile browser shortcuts and files.

On first sync, I get the little message to install Mobile OneNote. I
do. I find it and run it on the device, but there seems to be no sync
option in ActiveSync for it (Yes, I've looked under Options).

Do I need to have Outlook installed to activate all the sync options?
If so, is the 2k3 version sufficient?

I uninstalled ActiveSync.
I installed Outlook 2003.
I installed ActiveSync and partnered up my Mogul.
Nothing.
I started OneNote 2007. Went to Options and under Mobile, clicked the
"install" option.
Forced a reload on the PPC.
Still no sync (nor does it appear to be an option under Options in
ActiveSync)

Suggestions on what to try next?

Any thoughts on the below?

Would there be a more appropriate place to ask this?

On my WM5 Smartphone (BlackJack) I had to reboot the device AND my PC in
order for the OneNote option to become available (after installing).

Thanks - that inspired me to make one last run at it (rebooting the
machines wasn't working for me)

It took one more uninstall on the Pocket PC... that instigated a
reboot. I left it connected to the computer when it rebooted.
ActiveSync prompted to install OneNote Mobile, it did and I noticed I
now had it listed in the Options. But no checkbox to activate it.

Disconnected the device.
Reconnected the device.

I was able to check the box and the sync worked. :) *phew*

Now to figure out how to use this in a productive fashion...

Hmm Outlook Mobile, productive?

I changed my Unfiled Notes section to point to the Outlook Mobile notebook
(Tools|Options|Save). That way, Side Notes go automatically to my mobile.

Also keep in mind some quirks I noticed: If you create a note with a title,
but no actual content, it doesn't get synced. If your device is connected,
modifications you make while connected may or may not be immediately synced
(they seem to happen on some schedule)... unlike Outlook which syncs
immediately.

Other than that, it's a nice (though not great) step up from Outlook Notes.

Oh yes. It helps me a lot!
One has to care for a proper layout if the pages copied over and keep
things in just one container in a page (if there are multiple containers
the result will be multiple pages on the mobile device)

This would be ways to much stuff to be carried on my PDA (especially as
I used newly captured stuff, f.e. from the web) in my "Unfiled" section.

Things have become really easy since I installed the "Send to OneNote
Mobile" PowerToy:

I now have an additional icon in the toolbar and it's just one click to
copy the current page to the "OneNote Mobile" notebook.
A really great tool which helps a lot.

I've sync problems, too. I'm running OneNote 2007 and ActiveSync 4.5.
When it installed OneNote Mobile on my mobile device ActiveSync never
gave me the option to syncronize OneNote Notes, means it never added
this tick box to the list. I tried uninstall, reboot and reboot and
uninstall...
Does anyone know hoe to tell ActiveSync that OneNote is there??

Please help.
Thanks
