I am creating a project that will have many photos in it. It will be
printed by a friend who has a massive commercial color printer. I tried to
scan the photos first at 1200 dpi as a tif file. It could not be saved, the
computer told me because the file was too large, yet I have over 100 GB empty
on my hard drive and 2MG of Ram. I changed the resolution to 400 dpi and was
able to save them as JPEG with some compression. Now I am creating the
poster in 2007 Publisher, saving it as a TIF file, but I notice that
Publisher does not seem to be able to open the poster as a TIF file, so I
have to keep the file opened until I finish it, which could be a while, and
if my computer crashes I never be able to open the project in Publisher
again. I am also sarting to see error messages that the file is too large.
My friend tells me the file must be TIF, JPG or PSD. I am trying to be the
maximum quality possible. So, how can I can I open a tif project, why won't
Publisher accept TIF files ( the photos going into the poster) larger than
300 dpi, and how can I deal with the messages telling me the file is too big
to save? It is way less than 300 MB. I am running Vista Home Premium with a
dual core processor.
Thanks for your help.
