Outline Numbering with Heading Stops on Pressing Enter (Word 2007)

In Ribbon: "Home" -> "Paragraph" -> "Multilevel List" -> Choose

Font changes to Cambria (Headings) 14 pt., Style = Heading 1

Type in "Test"

Press Enter

The next line reverts to Normal Style (no numbering of course)

Lame workaround: Have a space before the cursor when pressing enter

So....how do I continue my numbering (with heading styles of course)?

Normal is set as the "Style for following paragraphs" of all heading styles.
You could create your outline list using styles other than the built-in
headings (the List Number series, say), or you can set the following style
to be the same style instead of Normal.

In the Modify Style dialog, change the "Style for following paragraph." See

principles. In Word 2007, open this dialog via Home | Styles. Click the
dialog launcher to open the Styles window. Click the Manage Styles button at
the bottom of the window (third from left). On the Edit tab of the Manage
Styles dialog, select Heading 1 (or 2 or 3) and click Modify...

Thank you very much! That was what I was looking for. For future reference,
to modify a style, simply right click it on the Ribbon and select "Modfiy..."

To complicate things a bit, note that not all styles are accessible from the
ribbon. In fact, only those styles that have been set as "quick styles" will
be found there.

In order to modify any style in the document or its attached template, you
can make use of the Manage Styles dialog box. Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S to
display the Styles pane, and then click the Manage Styles button. In the
dialog box, click the Edit tab.
