Outlook 2007 Instant Search and Vista - Search returns no results

I just bought a Vista computer and Outlook 2007 and instant search works
great from the Start menu, but always returns no results in Outlook. I've
looked high and low for solutions and only found lots of people having the
same problem and nobody finding any solutions. I've checked the Indexing
Options in Control Panel and .pst files are supposed to be checked, but to no
avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've waiting a long time and it tells me it has nothing left to index, but
still no results for the simplest of searches.

Same Problem here, I rebuilt the indexs from control panel and in outlook the
search never finds a thing. My setup is Vista Home Preimim and Outloo 2007 RTM

My problem appears to have resolved itself, but unfortunately, I don't have a
really good explanation for how it got fixed. I spent about two hours on the
phone with Microsoft support (they offer free support for 90 days at
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?ln=en-us&prid=10162&gprid=422192).

They did a number of things, most of which I had already done, like running
a repair of Outlook, running scanpst.exe and creating a new profile and
importing my mail again. None of it seemed to resolve the problem. They
then had me boot Windows in Safe mode (press F8 during the restart and then
select safe mode with networking). When I did that, my messages reappeared
while I was in safe mode. I ended up losing my phone support at that point
because he went to ask someone what to do and then my phone died. However,
when I rebooted normally, everything seemed to be fine in Outlook again. I
was able to read all my posts without any problem. I don't see how booting
into safe mode would have done this, and we did several normal reboots during
the process he took me through, so I'm not sure what to tell you. I guess
give Safe mode a shot and see if you can view your messages then and perhaps
it will fix itself like it did for me.

Hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Tom
