Outlook 2007 locks when sending emails or replying to emails

I can leave Outlook 2007 running all day long with no issues, yet when I
write and email or attempt to reply to an email, it locks up. I have to shut
down the program, via Ctrl/Atl/Del. Wehn I open the program back up, the
email draft is sitting in the drafts folder. I complete the email and send
it, yet the person I email it to never recieves it. This installation is was
an upgrade from Outlook 2003.
