Outlook 2007 performance issues

I installed Office 2007 Beta 2 (on P4 1.6GHz laptop with 1GB RAM) and have
been impressed with all applications performance and feature set, EXCEPT
Outlook.

Performance of Outlook with connection to MS Exchange account and two
additional IMAP4 accounts has been dreadful (often with 1-3 minute delays to
update folders with 1 new message). Same configuration under Outlook 2003
(with MS Ofice 2003) was fine.

I completely uninstalled MS Office 2003 and reinstalled just Office 2007 to
no avail. All other Office 2007 apps perform well.

Any thoughts?

How big are your IMAP PST files?
I run a PST and an IMAP PST with 1.3 GB each. Performance is horrible in
Outlook on my laptop with comparable stats as well. It is better though
than in the previous beta build.

LOL. We should have a webpage that says it in huge letters along with an
explanation what that means ;)

It's actually funny what you get used to when beta testing: Frequent
crashes, horrible performance, stuff just not working, corrupted
data,...
It's been a fun time since November with Office 2007 :)

Patrick,
I had a feeling it was due to size of OST/PST, but was hoping for something
else. My files are also large. Though each is smaller than yours, all three
are ~900MB (@ ~200-400MB).

I'll roll back to Outlook 2003 and pray that performance issues will improve
in RC.

Thanks,
JB

Yes, there are too frequent (several times daily) locks and crashes with
Beta-2. I'm using two IMAP accounts, with one of those SSL-based. I sure
hope all these crash dumps I've been submitting are being used to identify
the underlying issues!

I'm not running beta, I'm running outlook 2007 on a new laptop with vista
ultimate on an intel core2, 2ghz, 2 gig of 677mhz ram. the computer is
totally unusable when outlook is open. my cpu is pegged 80-90% (it has been
8 hours now). outlook, searchindexer, searchfilterhost, and serchprotocolhost
are the big culprits. I disabled indexing for everything in outlook. any
thoughts??? Please help
