Outlook 2007 Slow performance with PST

Has anyone ran into a significant loss of performance when accessing PST
files in Outlook 2007? I would esitimate that read/write operations take
about 10 times longer in 2007 vs 2003 in my experiance.

Quite possible. It's starting to get on my nerves...
It's beta software, so we have to deal with it (I'll bug it though)

Same here Outlook 2007 is slower than Outlook 2003 I check all of my setting
but can't find anything wrong so I came here to find help with this.

Hi Stan,

The only advice I have left is to defragment your hard drive. I just
upgraded my own hard drive to a bigger one (which I could defragment
again, my old one didn't have enough space for that). Performance has
gotten somewhat better, but it is still slow.

Same here. I have beta 2 and the disk activity with pst files increased
dramatically. I use diskeeper and there is not a single excess fragment on
the drive at the moment.

cheers

My PST file is huge, 2.5GB.

Outlook 2003 had no issues with this. Outlook 2007 takes forever to render
from one message to another. When I hit reply, forward, or new mail, that
takes a long time to render. Sending has the same thing.

Compact your PST (right-click Personal Folders in the navigation pane,
select properties, Advanced. Run archive and try to get as many emails
archived out of it so you can bring the file size down (and compact
afterwards).
Defragment your hard drive.
Outlook 2007 is beta software and you cannot compare the performance of
beta software with the performance of a release version (Outlook 2003).
