Outlook Express .dbx file

Can anyone help please?

I am trying to back up my Outlook Express (6) folders and
notice that the Deleted Items .dbx file is 300mb in size.
I have emptied my Deleted Items folder, and don't
understand why it's so large.

Also, is there anyway to 'archive' my folders instead of
copying the .dbx file so that I can open the backed-up
emails more easily?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob S.

Have you tried compacting the folder? (File | Folder | Compact)

I still believe the best method is to copy the folder holding your *.dbx
files. However you might want to ask in a group that supports Outlook
Express rather than Microsoft Outlook which is part of Microsoft Office.
