Outlook is "unable to connect to your outgoing (smtp) email server

After using Outlook on my computer successfully for quite some time, I am
suddenly getting the following message:
Task 'John's AOL E-Mail Account - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) :
'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you
continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).'
I am receiving Emails but Outlook will not send them. Also, after the first
send/receive Outlook goes into "offline" mode.
How can I correct this problem?

Mary - the Email settings are correct, unchanged and have worked without any
problem for well over one year. Any other suggestions?

Mary - AOL changed their Outgoing Server number from 25 to 587 - after
changing this and restarting Outlook I am now able to send Email again.
Thanks, jrd
