Outlook quits responding.

Outlook quits responding when I attempt to save or attach. I have Office 2003
and all the latest updates. Just put on spybot recently.

I am having the exact same problem, I am also running Office 2003, working
fine 19.4 and started quitting yesterday. I can access My docs from desk top
or start up but when I choose to attach a file from it as an email attachment
Outlook stops responding. Have you had any responses as to what the problem
may be?

Yup - same problem here. I have two users at work with this issue. On
was fixed by simply reinstalling Office, but the second user, WinXP Pr
SP2, Outlook 2003 (11.8010.6568) SP2 (as part of Office 200
Professional, VLK) is still causing me problems.

I've tried resetting the user profile (although the problem seems to b
machine specific rather than user specific). I've tried the Office 200
Resource Kit removal tool to wipe out and reinstall Office.
Nothing has helped. It doesn't seem to be a network issue, cos I'v
tried removing all drive mappings and disabling the network adapter (i
case there was an invalid mapping or something causing a timeout).

Would be very interested to hear about what others have tried.

Cheers,

Dunca

An earlier version of Office was doing fine for months. A week ago, this
responding problem began. I thought an off the shelf, latest version of
Office might resolve the the issue. No! It continues. I've deleted 2003 and
uploaded again with the same results. This problem is machine specific. I can
attach files from the same folder on a desktop, which I cannot attach on the
laptop.

I rushed down to purchase the latest version of Office in hope of quickly
solveing this issue. The problem began about 2 days previously with an
earlier version of Office. This early version had worked fine forever....
until. Still works great on co-workers who send me emails with excel and word
attachments. However, I cannot download or attach them from my laptop.. .but
can from my desktop. Both of which now have Office 2003 (the earlier version
would have been fine). I have no responses that might help, yet. Seems we
have a very similar problem.

The latest hardware drivers have been added as well. Both Word and Excel quit
responding when attempting to save.

Remove hotfix 908531 and it will fix the problem. Then wait for new fix to
be out on Tuesday.

That did it, Dave. Thank you. I should've come here before purchasing the
2003 Office Suite..... deadlines.

DO NOT change registry or uninstall Office. As Dave Peterson wrote in "Excel
and Word Hang Up..." a quick and simple fix can be found at
http://www.techweb.com/wire/security/185303742. Don't know how it works but
it
does. Page two of the article gives a link to "Kellys Korner" for the fix. It
worked perfectly.

Not sure if my problem is related to this discussion. My only problem is with
Outlook 2003 "not responding" on spellcheck. The second I check "change" in
the spellcheck window, I get the dreaded hourglass, then nothing. I have to
close the program, losing the email in the process.
