Outlook Search

I installed Outlook 2007 Beta and everything was working fine. But now I
cannot perform any more searches for contacts or emails. I get the message
"Outlook cannot perform your search". Any suggestions?

Have you installed the new release of Windows Desktop Search? Released just
a few days ago and fixes a lot of search problems in Outlook 2007.

ok I had the same problem and I did have the New desktop search installed. If
you use a Registry editor or something It may delete the link. and hence
instant search in email does not work. To fix this just uninstall the windows
desktop search from your add/remove programs then go to this link

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...53-6e20-4cf7-8bfc-1cac7f35da49&displaylang=en

and down load the windows desktop search. You will need to restart your
computer but Bingo instant search in your outlook works again.

This should help all.

I'm having the same problem and when I went to install it I found that I
already had Win Desktop Search installed.

The older one or the newer one? IF the older one, then install the newer
one.

Whatever I did - it worked! (caveat) - for now.
I uninstalled the beta WDS and I think the previous WDS went with it - but
I'm not sure at this point - having tried so many things that I rarely do
only 1 at a time :-0
So much for "The Scientific Method"

Then I reopened Outlook 2007 and didn't give in right away to being
requested to reinstall WDS - but when I found that meant I had no advanced
search, I reinstalled the beta and - lo & behold - it didn't work!

But wait! - after I rebooted & did a search for "received this week" - I
finally got accurate results (apparently, the other option is no reults, just
an error message

So, my conclusion is that there's really good odds that the program works
but gets corrupted easily and that will be fixed before the final release.
