Outlook stopped downloading emails

T

Tina

As of yesterday, my emails do not download at all to Outlook. I am using a
LAN and already went through the process with them of checking out what
should be where. When I hit the send/receive button, nothing happens. Any
help would be appreciated.

The LAN (local area network) is your connection, not your mail server.
Contact your Internet Provider and get the correct server settings for your
acct. If you are on an Exchange, contact your administrator for help.

That is what i meant to say that i did. We went through the motions, also
did a test and it showed that it could send and receive, but again, when i
hit the send/receive it does nothing. Thanks for your input.

How do you know there's something available for receiving?

When I go to my mail server, there are 15 messages waiting. I know I could
just as well read them online, but I kind of got to liking Outlook for its
other amenities.

Turned on automatic logging and nothing happens. When i scroll over
outlook on the bar on the lower screen it tells me that auto logging
is enabled. Still when i hit the send/receive nothing happens.

Now go look in the log to see what's going on.

Since I have no idea what this means, I will ask for your help once
again....Thanks in advance!

The log clearly shows that Outlook has sent a message to the server, but
there is no indication you've performed a receive. Examine your
send/receive group settings to make sure you've configured the send/receive
group to receive as well as send.

Seems to be figured correctly. When I go through the process, and do a test,
i get a message that everything is working properly. I am so lost.

Are you saying that when you use the Test button, everything works and
Outlook downloads the test message it sent?

T

Tina

It says it is but it does not download the test message. It sends it just
fine. I view it online but not in Outlook.

What is your incoming server configuration? What port? Is it
SSL-protected? Are you sure you have specified the incoming server settings
according to the ISP? Have you spoken with the ISP's support staff?

T

Tina

Already checked out all the settings with the ISP. Everything seems to be
configured correctly. ISP said sounded like the problem was with the
program. Of course! I will try to see if I get a different answer from
someone else from the ISP. I will let you know. Thanks for taking the time
to try and help.

I must tell you, I am one of those people that never shut down their
computers. Well just on a hunch, I shut down and rebooted, and whala! my
Outlook 2003 is working again!!! It must have been 'hung up' somehow and
when I rebooted, it came back to life. Thank you sooooo much for all of your
ideas and help. I did learn a lot about my program.
