Overstrike in Word 2003

O

Orrie

I need to fill out some government forms that were supplied as Word docs.
How can I overtype, so that entries appear on the lines and Xs appear in the
boxes where they are supposed to go? I don't know which Word version was
used to create the forms.

I have Overtype Mode checked in Options/Edit, and have tried switching
between the two Insert modes on the keyboard.

The articles I found at the Microsoft Knowledge Base deal with Word 97, but
the procedures don't seem to work in Word 2003.

Thanks as always for your help.

If these forms do not contain form fields, then they were not meant to be
filled out in Word but instead to be printed and filled out by hand or with
a typewriter. You can manage to do it in Word, but not without way more
trouble than it's worth.
