Printing a Different First Page

N

Nat Pulsifer

Clicking "Different First Page" [File/Page Setup/Layout in MSWord 200
SP3 running on Windows 7 Professional] should block the footer fro
appearing/printing on Page One of a multi-page document.

I experience the reverse: The footer appears on the first page but
NOT on page 2.

Rebooting does not fix the problem

Q: How to reset "Different First Page" to work as expected?

Thanks for any help.

First, turn on "Show Non-printing Characters" (Ctrl-Shift-8).

Always start adjusting your headers and footers from the beginning
of the document.

Now, go into the first page footer and delete everything, especially
any paragraph signs you can now see.

Once a header or footer has been created in a document, you can never
actually make it go away entirely, but you can reduce it to zero,
using the Layout tab of the Page Setup command: set the "From Edge"
to 0.

Move to the first footer you want to have in your document, be sure
"Link to Previous" is unchecked, and add in the stuff you want to
appear there. (Same if you have Different Odd and Even.)

Repeat for any additional Sections.
