Programatically Import Spreadsheet

Is there a way to use either VBA or a macro to automatically import a
spreadsheed and append the data to an existing table. Please bear in
mind that I am very new when it comes to VBA, but I have an urgent
requirement to be able to accomplish something of this nature.
