How do you get the Predecessors to "word wrap" in Project
2002. Thanks RussDGTMFG

Russ,

If you mean as it's displayed in a column, unless I'm missing something
doesn't look like it's possible. With some fields, e.g. "Notes", when
increasing the line width it will word wrap. Looks like they hard-coded
this behaviour for only certain fields.

Maybe you can achieve what you want by reducing the font size for that
column.

Hi Russ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

There's no automatic way to do this, but there is a work around, if you can
live with it! Word wrap occurs when there is a space between the words.
Project separates the resources with a comma. So, if you put a single space
at the front of the resource name, preferably using the Resource Sheet view
(not in the Resource Names cell in the Entry table), then word wrap happens.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)

Thanks for your response, even though it was not what I
was hoping for. Since you were kind enough to reply, I'll
tell what I do when I have as many as 15 or 20
Predecessors to a task (but it's time consuming and the
reason for my posting).

I create multiple tasks (for the task with numerous
Predecessors), at the same level and label
them "A", "B", "C", etc. Then I have the first 4 or 5
Predecessors listed for task "A": then task "A" and the
next 4 or 5 Predecessors are listed for task "B", etc.,
until I get all the Predecessors listed in a column of
reasonable width (that will print out all the
Predecessors).

If you, or anyone else has a better way, I sure would
appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi Russ.

Did you try it? You cannot, of course, put a space before a number and thus
you can't wrap predecessor numbers.

In Project, text in a column will only wrap on a space. If you have lags or
cross project dependencies this may introduce spaces on which to wrap (ie:
4FS+1 day or C:\My Documents\ProjA.mpp\1).

If you don't have either of these, a trick you can use is to change your
Windows List Separator character to a space for printing your chart. Go to
Control Panel-Regional Settings and type a Space into the List Separator
field. This introduces spaces between the list of predecessors so it can
wrap. You should change it back to a comma when you have finished printing.

Have you considered using the network diagram view? It is a good way of
showing the task relationships - at the expense of timescale however.
