PST and OST files

Good day: On my work computer, I created a personal folder to save some
e-mail using Microsoft Outlook 2003. Outlook 2003 prompted me to save the
file as an Office data file or a pst file under Outlook 2002, 2000 and 97. I
saved the personal folder as an Office data file.

On my work computer, I executed scanpst.exe on the outlook data file.
Scanpst.exe prompted me to create a backup called outlook.bak and I agreed to
do so. I ran scanpst.exe on the original office data file. It generated a log
of errors and saved the log as a text file.

My home computer uses Microsoft Outlook 2002. I tried view the e-mail
contents of the original office data file. When I added the personal folder
within Outlook properties, the message appears, "The file you choose is not
an Outlook data file. You must select a new file of this type."

I tried to view the e-mail contents of outlook.bak and the same message
appeared on my home computer.

I returned to work and tried to view the e-mail contents using Outlook 2003.
The same message appears.

Does anyone have another approach to my situation?

Thanks, Mark

To use an OL2003 pst on an earlier version of OL you need to create, within
OL2003, a pst in earlier format
Copy anything required to this pst.

You dont mention how you are trying to access the pst on your home PC.
eg a copy on cd or what?

The pst file in question is on the hard drive. Is there a difference between
accessing a pst on a hard drive and CD-ROM?
