Public folder unread items in folder view

I have Outlook 2003 with all updates.

When I am in folder list view, I See the bold unread item count for all
folders except for the Public Folders. If I make a public folder favorite
for it, It shows the unread items correctly. It also shows if I make a
shortcut in Outlook Today. In Outlook 2002 it shows the Unread items
Correctly. Is there a way to make this show up in Outlook 2003?
