publish xl list with more than 64 columns to sharepoint

I download my list out of Windows SharePoint 2003 into xl 2003 and it is more
than 64 columns. I make some changes and want to publish the same list back
to sharepoint but I get the message - exceeded 64 columns and stops me. How
do I get around that?
