Publisher 98

Jim

When I right click the Publisher 98 desktop icon the
properties say "Description Microsoft Publisher for
Windows 95 v 5.0 even though I purchased Publisher 98 and
have a valid Product Identification number and valid CD
Key.
I can double click the Publisher 98 desktop icon and
start a blank publication, or existing publications for
that matter. However, whenever I try to access the help
menu, either by typing in a question, clicking contents,
or clicking index, I get a dialog box that is
titled "Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95 v 5.0" and
states "Microsoft Publisher for Windows 95 v 5.0 has
encountered a problem and needs to close. ....etc...
This problem began several weeks ago when I had some
machine updates, installed Publisher 2002 which I did not
necessarily like, uninstalled it and reinstalled
Publisher 98.
Can anyone please assist me with this problem. Thanks
Jim

.
Thanks for the response. Yes, I have tried to uninstall
and reinstall two times.
What I did not like was:
When I set up a publication then imported selections from
a MS Word document, a new text frame was generated that
was much wider than the text frame I had made in the
Publisher document. Too, the imported text text frame did
not fall at the end of the text already in Publisher but
would place itself where it wanted to. I had the
publisher file set to link the text from page to page as
the article would take more than one page.
I probably had something done incorrectly but could never
figure it out so I just went back to Publisher 98.
However, now I don't know when 98 will close itself with
the warning that Publisher 98 has encountered a problem
and has to shut down.
I guess I would prefer Publisher 2002 if I could just get
it to import text without generating a new text box... if
it would just import the text where I want it in the
publisher text frame that already exists.
I am using WINDOWS XP. It came with MS Works Suite 2002
installed. Would this make any difference about how
Publisher 98 works?
Sorry to be such a bother. Thanks for your responses.

.
Mary,
I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip. But, why in the
world would you have to use two steps to import text when
one used to work?
