reading mails in Japanese and downloading

I can use Outlook to download and store in my HD the
mails that come to my hotmail account. I can read mails
in Japanese in Hotmail (on internet), but when it is
downloaded to Outlook, I cannot read many of them. I can
write and read Japanese in other software. FYI, I have
Windows XP and Outlook 2003 (and a Toshiba computer all
bought in US). How can I read these Japanese emails?

Also, since this is the first time I'm using Outlook, I
have a very basic question. When I Send/Receive mails,
they are not actually downloaded; I have to click on each
mail, mark them for down loading, and connect again, and
then they download. Clicking on each mail gets quite
time consuming when there are many mails. How do I get
it to download automatically? Thank you!

I have a similar problem with Russian (cyrillic) - I can
type texts, and read received texts with Outlook Express,
Word, Excel, but not with Outlook - there I get only
question marks. I have twice posted a question about this
problem in this group, but no answers came, and each time
my posting disappeared two days later. Two days ago I even
saw a posting from a guy reporting the same problem with
Arabic. Now I can't find his posting either. Does the
moderator remove postings from people having problems with
Outlook's handling of non-latin alphabets, or what is
going on? Does anybody know a cure for Outlook's
latinocentricity?
