Hi,
I'm traveling on business and had to bring my laptop. Since I plugged my
computer into the hotel internet Outlook isn't allowing me to send any email.
I can receive emails, but can't reply. What should I do? Thanks in advance
for any help.

My first guess would be that the issue is you're connected to a different ISP
than your email account is through. Does the hotel ISP not support
authenticated SMTP? Also, are you not using VPN to connect to your work email
or is that not the issue?

How do I know if the hotel does or does not support authenticated SMTP?
Also, what's a VPN?

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. When a fair majority of business
people travel, they use VPN on their laptop to connect to work so they can
pull email, files, work on systems that are based on-site at their place of
employment. When you obtain a hotel internet connection, you use your VPN
software which challenges you to prove who you are (often with a small
digital card and PIN as well as your username) and once successfully
authenticated you are allowed to work as normal on your laptop.

Is this what you are trying to do or is this your home laptop and you're
trying to connect to your home email account, or some other configuration?

This is my work laptop, but I don't believe that we use VPNs. What else do
you think could be causing my outlook to not let me send email? Thanks for
your help.

You'll need to check if your email provider (not the Hotel) supports
authentication and, if so, what settings they use. You might also need to
check if the Hotel blocks any ports and, if so, if your email provider has
an alternate configuration.
In cases like this it is sometimes easier to use a WebMail interface to your
email. Most email providers have this.
