Remove direct formatting

Hi,
How can I remove the direct formatting from one formatted cell in a view in
MS project (2003)

Thanks

Hello Henry,

I'd use the format painter to copy the formatting from an unformatted
area over the formatted area. Select an unformatted "cell" click the
format painter button in the Standard toolbar and then click the
formatted area.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi JulieS,
Thank you for your help.
I tried and it removed it format , but the problem is I am receiving this
message :"remove direct formatting from one or more formatted cells and try
again"
This comes after every time I try to change the font colour of tasks.
(exceeds max # of cells in the view)
last time someone told me to insert the project to the new file, I did it
but again after a few changes this message poped up. Now, I don't know

Thanks

How about this approach?

Select the entire sheet by clicking on the grey square in the upper left
corner.
Go to "Edit" menu.
Select "Clear"
Select "Format"
Click OK

I recommend against changing font color of tasks. You can do conditional
formatting of the bars instead.

Hi Henry,

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds as though you may have gotten a bit
carried away with formatting then.

Try the following:

1. Select the entire table by clicking in the upper left corner above
the ID and to the left of the Task Name field.

2. Choose Edit > Clear, Formats.

You may have to repeat this in several tables if you have done
formatting to multiple tables and views.

You may find formatting sets of tasks through Format > Text Styles more
efficient and not as likely to run into the overly formatted error
message.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Just select a View from any existing ones under the "View" tab and then "Other Views", then more views. You may also select the full cells as mentioned in the above comments in the current view, or select specific columns/rows and then go to Task tab, then on the right most group you will find Editing Group then "Clear", then "Clear Formatting".
