I have an InfoPath form that has a button that opens another form. I get an
error that states the following.
Microsoft Office has identified a potential security concern.
Warning: This form is using your identity to connect to data sources.
....
This form is located at a:
\\monte02dc\secure$\forms\infopath\dcx\dcx_downtime_tracking.xsn
This form will connect to data sources at:
monte06ws
Do you want to connect to these data sources?

I click yes and it works great. Both these servers are on the same network.
I don't want to have this error every time. I have seen that I am supposed
to overcome this error with IE settings, but I have not been able to resolve
as of now. I could really use some help with this.

Did you try adding the link where the form is located as a trusted
site under IE Properties -> Security tab?

If I do that the warning does go away, but then I loose my login credentials
to the database and have even more problems.

I had this same problem and it all occurred due to the load balancer when we took one of the front end servers down. The URL for SharePoint was the domain name but when the SOAP web service tries to access the information it was trying to go through the server name and not the domain name therefore kicking off Microsoft security letting you know there are 2 different domain names now and the client is smart enough and capable to ask you if you want to go ahead and trust this domain where forms services does not have that ability. You either have to fix your load balancer or put that other URL into the trusted sites on every computer using that infopath form which is not the best approach. But if you look at the client message you will see the server name and domain name conflicting because the server name is not trusted and IE will not allow that data connection to open without permission.

Hope this helps....
