Restore/Recover backup

Well, my database seems to have gone from working totally fine and almost
finished yesterday to corrupt beyond repair today! I've tried importing too,
but the program just won't do anything with the file (I don't even get an
error message) :'( I've had a good cry and now ready to move on...

Luckily a few weeks ago I was playing with the security wizard which created
a backkup. (name.bak). Great and all, but I have no idea how to recover the
data from the file. I've found lots of information on how to create a
backup, but nothing on how to restore the data. I tried going into the file
menu in Access and looking for a backup option (which I read somewhere) but
don't have that option on 2003 (when I tried at work) or here at home on my
Access 2000.

I also tried to use Windows' backkup feature, but was told it wasn't a valid
file or something.

any ideas? I'll still have to redo a lot of work, but at least I won't have
to start from scratch!

Thanks! That was simple!

Do you (or anyone else) have any idea why databases get corrupted? It's
never happened to me before, but I don't want it to happen to this database
again! So if there's something I can do to prevent it, I'd love to try!

God please help me if you can. I dont even know how to use this chat thing
so I am calling out for help from anyone. Here is my situation....I am an
old fashioned girl. I dont like change, but my computer at work was dead and
I needed a new one. I was using Access 97...I know, I know, but I hate
change. The new computer came with Office 2007 and I cant use the access
program. I have my old access 97 disc but the case with the key code is
gone. I need the code. What do I do??? I dont have time to try to figure
out the new program because my business depends on the program that I did
over 10 years ago and thats what the staff is comfortable using. Any
suggestions on where I can get the CD key to an Access 97 program?

Call Microsoft and explain the situation, and perhaps you can get a CD Key
from the support people. Or, go check eBay and see if you can inexpensively
purchase Access 97. As good a release as that was, it's been "out of
support" for so long that someone may have one for sale.

A97 is still a good program.

Hello,

Could you please detail how one changes the extension? I've tried several
times by right-clicking the BAK file to 'rename', but is just becomes
(Filename).mdb.BAK

Any advice would be most appreciated.
