Section Groups

In OneNote 2007 section groups are ordered alphabetically within any
notebook. Is there any way to reorder them manually?
If no, will this be implemented in future?

Thanks,
Bye

You can drag and drop them to reorder them however you like. We do not
support any automatic sorting though.

I can drag and drop single sections.
However, I cannot move up and down section groups (previously "folders") at
the same tree level. For example:

--------
-Notebook
- Section
+ Section group A
- Section
+ Section group B
- Section
- Section
----------

I want to move "Section group B" before "Section group A" but at the same
tree level, like this:

--------
-Notebook
- Section
+ Section group B
- Section
- Section
+ Section group A
- Section

You're correct that reording sections is possible but reordering section
groups (nee folders) is not.
There's a number of reasons for that, we may revisit that in the next
version.

Shame you didn't do something to 'fix' this in OneNote 2010. Being able to reorder section groups would be a good thing. Not all of us want or need or care about having our sections in ABC order - we need other options.

Reordering Section Groups

I appreciate finding this thread because I thought there must be a way to reorder section groups and would have spent time in a wasted effort.

I use Onenote 2010 and enjoy it, there are good improvements over the older versions, but sorting and reordering in the entire Onenote application still seems to be an overall weakness.

That said, I am constantly finding new ways to use Onenote for work and home. It is a good program that could be better if we could reorder section groups without alphabetical/numerical codes in the section group names.

I am having exactly the same problem and posted this question elsewhere. At least I know the answer now and also that the issue is not fixed for 2010 edition.

Can anyone tell me if you can order section groups non-alphabetically in the OneNote 2013 edition ? .. or is this problem ongoing.

Thanks

Maybe you have found a solution by now. Mine was to rename the section groups by adding a number before the name using the number to force the tabs into the position I wanted. ie. Sunday was "1 Sunday" Monday was "2 Monday"...etc. They instantly resorted into the sequence I wanted.
