sender's data not indicated in e-mails in outlook inbox

I'm using MS Outlook XP with MS Exchange 2000. In my inbox I some of the
senders' names are displayed but some are not. A change of the view is not
helpful. However when I open one of the e-mails without the sender's name, I
can see the sender's name. This is not a problem of display names as some of
the senders whose names are not displayed have accounts on the same Exchange
2000 server and are even members of the same domain. As there is a naming
convention for accounts in the domain this is not a problem of commas either.
Has anybody got an idea???

Hi,

This problem may be caused by several factors, from both Exchange server
side and Outlook client side. In order to isolate the problem, please help
to collect the following information:

1. Does the problem only occur on internal messages, or both internal and
external messages?

2. Does the problem occur on all the Exchange users or some particular
ones? Test the issue in OWA and what the result?

3. When did the problem first occur? Did it work properly before?

4. Try to log on your mailbox from another working machine. What's the
result? If the problem disappears, then please create a new profile in your
Outlook to see if it would solve the problem. To do so:

OL2002: How to Create a New E-mail Profile for Outlook
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=287072

Hope the information helps.

Both internal and external (as senders' data can be seen in open e-mail)

one particular user.

A few days ago. it worked properly before.

User was logged on to a terminal services session. Nothing changed. The
senders' addresses were not displayed there either.

Hi,

Thanks for your update.

The problem is most likely caused by the corrupted mailbox storage, so I
suggest you recreate the mailbox for this user since it would be the
cleanest solution. To do so:

1. Back up the user data in Outlook by exporting them to PST file. To do
so, please refer to:
OL2002: How to Back Up, Restore, or Move Outlook Data
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=287070

2. Open ADUC, right-click on the problematic user, select Exchange
Tasks/Delete Mailbox
3. Right-click on the problematic user, select Exchange Tasks/Create Mailbox
4. Import the previous data the new mailbox

Hope the information helps.
