Sent email is going straight to outbox and not being recieved by .

When I send an email, it goes directly into my outbox, and the receiver is
not getting the message, or if they do receive it, it is not time stamped
when I originally sent it. What could be happening that is causing this
delay and how can I fix it.

Many things can cause this, and one of the frequent causes is a program that
scans outgoing mail for viruses. It's unneeded and should be disabled.
