Solid Background colour using conditional formatting on combos in datasheets

Hi

Does anyone know of a way to get a smooth change of background colour
using conditional formatting on a combo in a datasheet? What I'm
finding is that the dropdown arrow part of the combo is retaining it's
original background colour, even when the control is not active and the
arrow not being displayed.
