Start/Finish Vs Actual Start/Finish

Hi I would like to highlight the difference between planned and actual
start/finish dates.
What I realized is that when I put 100% completion over a task, the
actual dates become identical to the planned ones.
How should I obtain different values betweern them?
Thanks in advance

Before you begin entering actual progress in the project, you should
baseline the project by clicking Tools - Tracking - Save Baseline. The
baseline fields will contain your intial estimates for the project. You can
view these estimates in the task Baseline table by clicking View - Table -
More Tables, selecting the Baseline table, and clicking OK. You can view
variances between current estimates/actuals against your original baseline
estimates by applying either the task Variance, task Cost, or task Work
tables (View - Table and then select one of these three tables). You can
see the graphical presentation of your baseline estimates against the
current state of the project by applying the Tracking Gantt view (View -
Tracking Gantt). Again, the key to seeing what you want is to baseline your
project before you begin entering actuals. Hope this helps.

Store your "planned" dates in a baseline.
Start and Finish are really "current" rather than planned. As you have seen
they show what the current start and finish are so for tasks that are
completed they should show the actual date.

If you save a baseline (tools menu / tracking / save baseline) then you can
find the planned start and finish in baseline start and baseline finish.
You can use the tracking gantt view to display the current and baseline
dates.
