I have two projects set up in a similar manner. No links, all summary tasks
and sub tasks are set to "start no earlier than", general time-frame is the
same, etc..

When I insert the status column the following happens: The status of summary
tasks for one project accurately reflect the status of their respective sub
tasks. For the other project this is not the case, some summary tasks are
marked completed even when they contain sub tasks that are late or in
progress. Any suggestions? Thank You.

Check the status date Project/Project Information.

The help gives quite precise conditions for each of the states that the
status field can report.

You also need to check the time-phased data in relation to the status date.
