I wish that Outlook would apply a Bayesian or similar type of processing to
automatically categorize e-mails, tasks, notes, events, and files into search
folders and project folders.
For example, if you can train your e-mail client on which messages are junk,
and which are not, why can't you teach Outlook which messages belong in
Search Folder A and which messages belong in Search Folder B?
Training Outlook should be as simple as drag-and-drop and happen in the
background. Eventually, Outlook should be able to detect patterns or
keywords to correctly and automatically sort all your e-mail, tasks, files,
and contacts into a single search or project folder using Bayesian or similar
rules.
Automatic training would eliminate the need to create complex rules to
pickup the right keywords. I think that a large number of novice or beginner
users don't use rules and wouldn't know how to set one up properly. It may
be so hard to these users that they simply forego setting up rules.
