Summary task Resources

Hi,

Is there a way to have MSP calculate the resources usage of a resource for a
summary task based on the detailed of the sumamry ?

I would like to be able to see the resource graph (Split window) for a
summary so I will have the allocation for the each resource linked to that
sumamry task without going in more details.

I guess MSP should calculate the resources and their allocation for a
summary but not to imputate the cost (double counting) but that is not
hapenning on my case. Maybe there is a screen I do not know about.

Thanks,
Nde

Nde,
I'm not sure I quite understand what you want. Are you assigning one or
more resources to a Summary line? If so, that is generally a bad idea.
Or are you perhaps trying to see a resource graph when a Summary line is
selected in the upper pane (e.g. Gantt Chart view)?

Built-in graph capability (and reports also) are limited in what they
can display. Everybody has different needs/wants and the available
options are based (I assume) on user requests over the years. If you
would like to submit a request to Microsoft for added capability you can
do so at:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX010857951033.aspx
and click on the link at the left to "suggest new content".

Meanwhile there is another option. Depending on exactly what you want to
graph, Project data can always be exported to a more graphic intensive
application such as Excel. This can be done in various ways. For static
data, Project information can be saved to Excel using an export map. For
timescaled data, the utility "analyze timescaled data in Excel" may be
helpful. The ultimate approach is to use an advanced feature of Project,
namely VBA. With VBA basically anything is possible.

Hope this helps.
