Tables Jumping onto next page - Word 2000

Hi,
I have created a table with lots of rows on page 1 including a heading (nopt
contained within the table).
When I enter information I expect the table to just continue onto Page 2.
However, the table "jumps" on to Page 2 leaving just the heading text on
Page 1.
I've looked for Page breaks etc. but there doesn't appear to be any.
Any ideas what's happening and how to correct it?
