task info on bars in Gantt chart

I went to the help section about adding text to Gantt bars and got nowhere.

Isn't there a way to add of bit of the task info to the bar itself or next
to it or close to it? And if so is there a quick way to do it such as
copying and pasting?

Hi Chris,

If you want to add information to all bars try Format > Bar Styles.
Select the bar type (Task, Critical Task, etc.) and click the Text
tab at the bottom of the Bar Styles dialog box. From the Left Right
list, select the field which holds the information you want to show.
If the information is not already stored in an existing field (Work,
Duration, for example) you can add one of the spare Text fields to a
table, add information there and then choose that field to display
in the Gantt chart.
