ToC - Auto Update - Forms Mode

D

David Wood

I have created a document template in protected forms mode using fields,
headers and section breaks to achieve what I want. I have a ToC using level 1
entries only and BEFORE I protect the document - as the user edits a header -
the ToC updates fine.

However, after protecting the document, each time the user "TABS" between
fields - the ToC thinks it needs to update and throws up the dialogue box.
There are many fields and it consistently behaves in this way - making the
template unworkable, as we only want the ToC to update when headers are
changed - not the rest of the form.

Any ideas on how to stop this or what I may be doing wrong - happily
accepted and tried.

Thanks to anyone who may take the time to help.

Regards

David

This is a strange issue. You may want to try asking in a programming
newsgroup such as microsoft.public.word.vba.general for further assistance.

I suspect the reason is that you have the calculate on exit box checked on
all the fields that you tab out of, thereby forcing an update of fields (TOC
is a field) each time. Reduce the number of fields on which you have the box
checked. They only really need to be updated once.
