Too Many Fields

I have a report based on a query i have written. There are 180 fields from
the query that i want displayed on the report.

When i create the report and drag and drop the fields on, the appear okay.
When i try to run the report, it says "Too many fields defined". Looking at
it, i know that i can only have 255 fields on a report. As i have 180 fields
(i actually will have 360 because of the labels associated with the
textboxes) i can see where this is too many.

I deleted all the label fields so that i was left with only the 180
textboxes on the report. The report still reported the "Too many fields
defined" problem. I then ran a compact and repair on this, in case Access
still thought they were linked to the report, and after that completed tried
running the report again, but the error was still reported.

Does anyone have any clarification on what a "field" is on a report and why
my report does not seem to run or what i can do to get it working??

I expect the objection is to the number of columns in the tables in your
report's record source. Have you considered attempting to normalize your
table structure? 180 fields sounds like way too many.
