track changes and paragraph numbering

When track changes is on, it automatically adds the new number to an added
paragraph, and then (most annoying) crosses out all the numbers in the
subsequent paragraphs and replaces it with the new number. Is there a way to
keep track changes but turn off the correction of the paragraph numbering in
word 2007.

No, as long as Track Changes is activated, numbering may not be correct in
Word (this applies not only to paragraph/outline numbering but also to, say,
footnotes). It will straighten itself out when you accept or reject changes.
