Trouble importing Ms-Word booklet with moderately advanced formatting

I'm having problems getting Ms-Publisher 2003 to properly import a
half-size booklet from Ms-Word 2003. Rather than keep beating my head
against a wall (or ordering some "smart pills"), I thought I would ask
people with a lot more experience than I have if Ms-Publisher can do
the kinds of import involved.

The booklet has the following characteristics:

* half size (each page is 4.25"w x 5.5"h)
* duplexed
* paragraph shading style
* page borders
* page numbers
* superscript style
* multiple fonts
* compressed font
* "Space after" paragraphs
* multiple font sizes
* fieldcodes for INCLUDETEXT
* fieldcodes for bookmarks
* 2 columns for part of the document

Ms-Publisher seems to balk on importing several of the above. Are
there some of them that just don't import with Ms-Publisher, so I can
save myself time and aggravation trying to figure out something that
can't be done?

I would continue to use Ms-Word, but Ms-Publisher has a certain print
capability related to "n-up imposition" that I haven't been able to
get Ms-Word to do correctly.

TIA

Publisher will not import the document and retain the formatting. To keep some of the
formatting you will have to setup Publisher as a booklet, create linked text boxes,
then it is a matter of copy and paste. It sounds as though you have created a
successful booklet in Word, bringing it over to Publisher would be like starting all
over.

Publisher does this, although it may not carry over automatically from Word.
* duplexed
Publisher does this, provided it's set up in your printer driver.
* paragraph shading style
Publisher does not support this.
* page borders
Publisher requires that these be created manually.
* page numbers
Publisher supports these, but they might not carry over from Word.
* superscript style
Publisher supports this.
* multiple fonts
Publisher supports these.
* compressed font
If you have a compressed font installed, Publisher shold be fine about using
it.
* "Space after" paragraphs
Publisher supports this, but I don't know whether the Word import filter
supports it.
* multiple font sizes
Publisher supports this.
* fieldcodes for INCLUDETEXT
Publisher does not support this.
* fieldcodes for bookmarks
Publisher does not support this.
* 2 columns for part of the document
Publisher supports this, but it may have to be created manually/

A commercial application unless you like having watermarks all over your
printouts, but www.fineprint.com looks far easier than trying to move your
document into Publisher.
