I am trying to make my site google robot friendly and when i use a robot
generator it tells me I have error 1) Is I don't have a doctype, and says I
have 63 errors
I tried looking through thier how to fix. But I can't figure it. Out. Below
is the begining of what It says. www.firediv.com

No DOCTYPE found! Attempting validation with HTML 4.01 Transitional.

The DOCTYPE Declaration was not recognized or is missing. This probably
means that the Formal Public Identifier contains a spelling error, or that
the Declaration is not using correct syntax. Validation has been performed
using a default "fallback" Document Type Definition that closely resembles
"HTML 4.01 Transitional", but the document will not be Valid until you have
corrected this problem with the DOCTYPE Declaration.

Learn how to add a doctype to your document from our FAQ.

Publisher does not produce compliant code. You don't even want to try to
bash Publisher's output into something resembling compliant code.

If standards compliance is important to you, I suggest you try a real
website product like Expression Web.

Is this program as easy to use as MS Pub 2007? How hard is Frontpage to use?
I suppose either chose I will need to start from scratch.

All are easy, once you get past the first several hours. FrontPage 2003 was
the final release of that product.

For designing a website, Publisher is confusing if not difficult to use,
particularly if you want your site to be accessible across multiple
platforms (screenreaders, alternative browsers, low-bandwidth users, etc.).

Expression Web is a much better choice. It is essentially the successor
to FrontPage, which has now been discontinued. It is simple enough to
learn, but gives you much better control of your website as a website
(rather than pretending it's a printed page, which can be a recipe for
disaster).

Ed,
real website product like Expression Web. <<

Or, if it is too expensive for your budget, try Serif's WebPlus.

For the record, though, W3C compliance is not very important in the
grand scheme of things. I would be more concerned if the site is
friendly to a screen reader, loads fast and looks nearly the same in
most popular browsers (yes! there are those people who don't use IE).
Also, Word use to create compliant pages, but I haven't used it to
create a site since Win95 days.
