Unable to Delete

I hope someone can help me! I have used Outlook for more years than I know.
Suddenly, I cannot delete messages. It started with one or two messages
that wouldn't delete a few days ago, and now it's all of them. I've run my
virus / spyware software just to be sure and all appears okay on that. I've
tried compacting my folders too. Afterwards I was able to delete a few
messages then it stopped again. What else should I do?

Couple of thoughts, go to the deleted items folder in Outlook and make sure
it is empty. (e.g. if it isn't, you can just right click on the folder name
and select "Empty Deleted Items Folder".

If the folder is empty, then there are two thoughts at this point.

1) If you are working with a POP3/IMAP account, check the size of your PST
file. Since you don't mention what version of Outlook you are using, I'm
going to play it safe and tell you that the max size for a PST file is 2GB
in size. This means Windows Explorer will show about 1.9 or so.

Note: Outlook 2003/2007 can support larger file sizes. It depends on the
type of PST file in use.

2) The second thought is that you have minor corruption in the PST file.
The inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) can be used to check/repair the PST
file(s).

PS - Please post what version of Microsoft Outlook you are using next time.

Outlook Express is a beast of a different nature, so there is no such thing
as an Inbox repair tool.

What I would do is this assuming that the *only* two items in the Inbox are
the two messages that you want nuked. Close Outlook Express and rename the
file Inbox.DBX to Inbox.OLD. Start Outlook Express and it will create a new
DBX file. If OE is working okay that this point, delete Inbox.OLD.
